because this thing looked really really weird back in 2016 because it was made by a 16 year old that had no idea what they were doing
ive updated it multiple times since and it looks significantly better
theres a reason i dont keep the first version of this sprite sheet around anymore lol

I never said I didn't care about shading at all, just that it's not my first priority. And if the shaping is off enough, no amount of shading can save it.

I once didn't care about shading. In my never-shared sprites from my childhood, pillowshading was utterly rampant, and now they kinda make me cringe, looking back.

Basically, if you don't care about it now, and you stay in the game long enough, you will.

Shading isn't as much of a priority for me. And Davy specifically said the old version looks better without specifying that he only means the shading, stating that the shading makes it a better sprite overall. Shading is an element of a good sprites, but if the other qualities of the sprite are too lackluster, shading can't always save it.

The old version actually looks better, because the new one has a lot of pillowshading and banding.

Nice work. It looks like if the Super Metroid incarnation of the gunship somehow found its way into Metroid: Zero Mission, and therefore it is awesome.

i tried my best really.

just starting out with completely custom spriting.

so that explains a few things.
its not bad, but its not good.
