This sheet was made long before we had any concrete info on Sand Shower outside of the mockup. A nifty hint to this being that it's called Dust Hill.

@RealMargaretThatcher I should get around to updating it as I need to do not only the sand slopes and such, but also the transition pieces as well.
And maybe some more ACME themed gimmicks that could fit with my version of the zone.

Dolphman, I've noticed this sheet still uses the name "Dust Hill", even though it's been a while since we discovered the actual name to be "Sand Shower". Regardless of that, cool sheet!

Ya'll really think this is named Dust Hill? Hah.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go take a shower with some sand.

@SonicStorm478 Although it may not be correct, I still think this should be called "Dust Hill Zone" since it's more fitting for a wild west themed level.

So, uh, unless I'm looking into this wrong, it seems like the new Sonic 2 prototypes that were found recently seem to confirm that Dust Hill Zone was a prototypical name for Mystic Cave Zone, and not the name of the desert level shown in the mockups. It seems likely that this may actually be the "Sand Shower Zone" that Hirokazu Yasuhara's concepts mentioned.

@SonicStorm478 I can see his confusion, Desert Dazzle was going to be a new zone in the 2011 remake of Sonic CD inspired by dust hill.

@tarkan809

I believe the level you're thinking about is Desert Dazzle, which seems to have been repurposed somewhat as Mirage Saloon in Sonic Mania if I remember correctly.

If the stage made it in and was actually like this, I bet people would look at AoStH and think "so they based the whole series on one level of the games?"

@Dolphman
Well, that was just my guess.
Sorry, then, carry on!

I think he means the theme I gave the level's gimmicks: ACME objects and hazards.
Robotnik's vehicle is also inspired by Wile E.'s gadgets from those cartoons.

@LooneyTunerIan

Sorry to rain on your parade, Ian.
This was a cancelled stage from the beta
of Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
