@yttian A lot easier to use for a flash game than the actual model... Runouw (the creator of Super Mario 63) actually used this for a different, simpler fangame.

What?
Mario is a model in this game, he shouldn't have a spritesheet!

Everyone always asks: "Where's Luigi?"
But no one ever asks: "Where's Small/Regular Mario?"

And I'm still waiting for this sheet to be completed since this day where nothing happened

The "always a consistent distance from the screen" argument doesn't really hold much water considering the game zooms the camera on a few occasions, most notably at the start of some levels and when jumping from the Spin Block. Don't really wanna see this sheet deleted though, it's neat as a historical curiosity.

@Valis As has been answered numerous times, it's because he's always at a consistent distance from the screen unlike most games that have models on a 2D plain, meaning they are always pretty consistent in their appearance (like sprites).

why is this up if mario is a model

@kozompadler He is actually a model in the original game, being used to make expressions easier, which is hard to do with 2D sprites. I'm guessing this spritesheet was made by using screenshots or a tediously long process of recreating each and every sprite of Mario (well, Super Mario at least).

@kozompadler He is, these were made using screenshots I think.

@NARbluebird_YT,
1a. Probably because there are so many sprites, due to the model being pixelated because of the ds's resolution.
1b. WEG KNOW STOP SAYING THAT
2. To help with clarity for when some sprites are used

@Fawfulthegreat64, That would be better, yes, I'm just more accustomed to using sprites as I find it easier (I tried to make a model for Minecraft once and failed horribly, and it wasn't even that hard model wise =P) I just think it was kind of strange for him to just be giving up on it (I assume, I checked his Mario Fan Game Galaxy page and found nothing about Luigi except a custom Mr L sheet.)

Essentially, I agree that ripping the model animations is most likely the best move, I just find it strange that Larry Inc gave up on this sheet. (Sorry for a lengthy comment.)

I feel like this type of rip is a relic of the past tbh. Since it's actually a model, there isn't actual data in the files for frames of animation the way the contemporaries have (and 2D enemies in this game). So I'd imagine ripping it like this is particular tedious work when it's possible to just rip the model (which is ripped on TMR anyway).

I think that rather than ripping Luigi this way, maybe the play would be to rip the animations for Mario and Luigi and apply them to the model, and render a sheet like that, if we're going to have sheets of a model like this.
