Apparently, MobyGames lists the art director for this game as Michael D. Mattesi, so shoutouts to them for making these surprisingly good sprites!
(Also MobyGames lists Jeff Biancalana and Jason Sadler under "animation" but I assume they just mean they did the animated cutscenes for the game.)

Did you know that these are actually smoother than the original ones on Sonic 3? Yeah, you should use this instead.

Where is the sprite where you get grabbed by a robot?

Y'know, I gotta give credit to whoever edited Sonic's S3K sprites for this game. They did a good job.

Anyone heard those victory sprites are from Sonic Advance 3?

Ah, i did notice that the grabbers were part of the sprite as opposed to being overlapped. Are they gonna be on a separate sheet or is this one gonna be updated with them?

@D.M.: Those aren't technically part of Sonic's sprite set (they're merged with said carriers), but yep I'll be ripping those sometime later.

still seems to be missing the sprites where he's getting grabbed, so hopefully those get properly ripped eventually

apparently, the spindash is used

I see that some tiles seem to be missing. Also I think you should mark the diagonal and spindash frames as unused.

I gotta say, Torus Games nailed the Sonic 3 sprite artstyle really well to translate some of the sprites from Sonic Advance games. Thanks so much for anyone who ripping these.

Wonder why this game has proper Sonic 3 diagonal walking sprites, yet the Didj game uses Sonic 2 diagonal walking sprites.

@TPRR I'd assume this game used them since they're closer to the modern designs than those of 1, 2 and CD. As previously stated, it would've made more sense to use the
Advance
ones.

Why are people using Sonic 3 sprites now?

Just a heads up: the sheet lacks the sprites (the ones similar to the death/drown sprites) for when Sonic is grabbed by stuff like the Police Cars

@Random Talking Bush Oh, thanks

@KostyaGame the bruh: That is his actual palette, straight from the game's data. Not sure why it looks brighter there, possibly a side-effect of the way it was recorded.

but I have one question, why is the Sonic 3 palette used here and not the one used in the game?

I do agree that the sprites are really well done, especially the victory pose, everything about it looks great. Kind of makes me wish we got another Sonic game on the Leapster, haha.

Like I said, people see same basic sprites on:
Didj: "EEEEEeeWwWWWWwww!"
Leapster: "THANK YOU SWEET JESUS!"
