@Yawackhary That has always been a bizarre thing. Why did that generation have a big hate boner for 2D? Not only that, the 3D games that tried to be realistic have aged poorly while the cartoonish ones are much more timeless. As much as everyone is excited to see Golden Eye again, it's honestly one of the few classic first person shooters that really hasn't aged well compared to the rest at the time. (Quake, Doom 64, Turok, Shadow Warrior, Blood, Unreal, and even Half Life)

Jazz would've been perfect for consoles, but at the same time the graphics would've suffered a downgrade if the first one was ported to SNES and Genesis (And would also be unfairly called a Sonic ripoff when it's actually a parody of the trend) and it's very hit and miss when it comes to PC-to-Console ports.
(Out of all the ports of Doom, the PlayStation version along with Final Doom are considered the best ports of that era. Everything else had many flaws)
One thing that helps keep Jazz popular with PC players is the active community at Jazz2Online who host a bunch of downloadable levels, tilesets and other things. And they were successful in adding modding compatibilities in this game, that Epic and GOG contacted them in helping with the rerelease of both games.
(Jazz 1 was recently patched after almost 30 years, and the page at GOG for Jazz 2 offers the Jazz 2 + mod as a patch for those wanting to try mods out)

@Light-Rock97 While it would have been very possible on the PS1 and having a slightly better port on the Saturn (on the grounds of more memory, less loading on the negative of having a lower non-interlaced resolution), Sony and Sega of America would have very likely rejected the game for being 2D and were very picky on what games were allowed usually compilations, arcade ports or RPGs (JJ2 would have been too late for the Saturn outside of Japan and too early for the Dreamcast unless it was a Complete Edition for launch). Only selected companies managed to have 2D games (Konami, Acclaim, Midway, Eidos, GT Interactive, Ubisoft with Rayman and how that happened was a very lucky fluke, Square, Atlus, Namco, Capcom after threatening Sony, Working Designs with constant conflicts between Victor Ireland and Sony/Sega [especially Bernie Stolar], and ironically Sony/Psygnosis themselves but did reject Rapid Reload and Mickey's Wild Adventure, Sega also allowed some 2D games as well), meaning that Epic would have relied on PAL regions and Japan for any success as by the time the 2D requirement got relaxed when the PS2 got going, it would have been a really hard sell. Plus Epic until the original Xbox were PC only (can't remember whether they involved with the Unreal Tournament ports, something tells me that they weren't).

Still the two games and their expansion packs did at least give PC owners some good 2D exclusives. They also held up really well that many 2D PC games of the time haven't and as you say, oozes with style. For the first game, could even be argued that a fast paced console styled game was possible on PCs (since even back then, PCs were considered 3rd tier after consoles and the Amiga, the only people who had PC for games were into strategy or the LucasArts/Sierra adventures that was until Wolfenstein/Doom came around that really made PC gaming popular along with soundcards and VGA display mode then eventually Windows 95).

This game oozes with style. It has that grungy feel like 90s Nickelodeon cartoons. There's nothing else like it. I wish it had more console ports. I would've loved seeing this on PlayStation, it could've sold a lot for sure.

@Lev Sure is! One of the better Sonic imitators out there. (Helps that it's more a parody than playing it straight)
