Ah yes, the Sonic Advance games, sadly they'll probably never get re-released, but at least they've definitely made their footprint on the internet due to recolored OCs and poorly made flash games.

@Akira you... do realize that Sonic 1 Extended was made by Stealth, right? you can’t exactly steal your own idea lmao.

@Dolphman Sega couldn't publish it in Europe since Sega Europe were really cut back by the end of the Dreamcast era where they could only afford to publish selected Dreamcast games e.g. Virtua Tennis 2, Headhunter, Shenmue 2. They had to rely on anyone to bring their games to Europe from Infogrames, Acclaim, THQ, even first party SCEE (Ferrari F355 Challenge and Headhunter PS2) and Microsoft (Shenmue 2 Xbox and OutRun 2). Sonic Adventure DX was when Sega Europe went back to publishing games again and didn't for the entire GBA era.

Same thing happened in recent times after Sonic & AllStars Transformed with Nintendo publishing some of the Sonic games and Deep Silver/Koch Media handling the rest. The last one to my knowledge that was done by Sega Europe physically was Hatsune Miku Project DIVA F 2nd on the PS3 but a small print run (technically Sega 3DS Classics Collection but only for the UK, a botched job and even then Koch Media were still involved for the rest of Europe).

@Doc von Schmeltwick Not to mention it sadly never got to the Wii U Virtual Console outside Japan due to some publisher issues: USA had THQ and PAL had InfoGrames. Seriously, why didn't Sega themselves publish it in those regions?

The Sonic Advance games, truly a victim of their Nintendo-copyrighted titles porting-wise. Either way, it's not such a groundbreaking idea to change the time of day.

@Akira: Sunset Hill Zone from Sonic Advance 3 had the idea first.

I like the music better for Emerald Hill :P
Great Turquoise probably had the best aesthetic of them all with the watery area with the turtles, but let's face it: the best iteration will always be Mecha Green Hill Zone, with its farting rendition of the You Can Do Anything theme.

@Schmeltwick: Emerald Hill Zone is essentially just a rehashed Green Hill, with extra content to flesh out the limits of Sonic 2 at the time. That's why elements of it crop up in Generations' and Mania's renditions of Green Hill. Even Sonic Chaos got in on this action with an Emerald Hill object cropping up in a Green Hill expy.

Yeah, but I'm saying it's now old in a different way.

Green Hill Zone Green Hill Zone Green Hill Zone Green Hill Zone Green Hill Zone Green Hill Zone Green Hill Zone Green Hill Zone Green Hill Zone Green Hill Zone Green Hill Zone Green Hill Zone.....it's gone from a nice nostalgic throwback to an annoying lack of variety from every other game. Why not give Emerald Hill Zone some more love?

Green Hill Is Looking A Lot Like Sunset Hill Right Now (Kill Me)
