"Metal Sonic Kai," as Tailikku pointed out, is actually the generic Metal Sonic in KC, anyways. "Kai" simply means "rebuilt."

(Dagnabbit am I gonna have to start holding seminars over misnamed Sonic robots here again?)

Yes. Giga Metal is the name used within the game’s files, so that is the official name for this form.

@Sanic
Problem is, Sonic 2 8-bit came first, and its robot was the only one ever explicitly called "Silver Sonic" outside of comics.

I think these should be the canon names for these bots so we don't cause confusion,
Sonic 2(16bit): Silver Sonic
Sonic 2(8bit/GG): Bionic Sonic/GG Silver Sonic
Sonic CD:Metal Sonic (obviously)
Sonic 3&K: Mecha Sonic..... (and knuckles)
Sonic Adventure(unused)Sonic Robot: Silver Sonic MKII

"Death Egg Meca Sonic" would be a cool name for the 16-Bit one.

Mecca Sonic? Does this mean Badniks all have to stop what they're doing and pray towards the Death Egg three times per day?
^This is intended to have a strikethrough, by the way, if it doesn't, then I don't know what to do, or it doesn't work for me.

Official concept art called the STH2 16-bit one "Meca Sonic".

@Tonic THANK YOU! Although the thingy in Adventure is technically unnamed, it was just called "Silver Sonic 2.0" or something in the Archie comics (despite not being, well, silver).

Sonic 2 8-bit: Silver Sonic
Sonic 2 16-bit: Mecha Sonic (Robo-Sonic by Lego Dimensions)
Sonic CD, Knuckles Chaotix & ETC: Metal Sonic
Sonic & Knuckles: Mecha Sonic
Sonic Adventure: Silver Sonic

@Akira Wrongo. They one in Sonic 2 8-Bit is the Silver Sonic, while the one in Sonic 2 8-bit is Mecha Sonic. Look it up on Sonicwikia, they have sources.

SMOL SILVER SONIC = ROBO SONIC
SILVER SONIC FROM S2 16-BIT = SILVER
now lemmi tell everyone why it says l Sonic on the Metal Sonic sprites
it might have just been that KewlZonic cut the Meta off and there were left the L there

@TwistedGear The manual states (Knuckles' Chaotix) that Metal Sonic Kai is the name of Metal Sonic's new body after his CPU was transferred from the CD version. World entrance level 2 (The final boss) has no official name.

"The Silver Sonic, Mecha Sonic, Metal Sonic, and Mecha Sonic again," Jeez, EggMan! I'm surprised you haven't made "Gundam Sonic", or "Toaster Sonic" yet...

I just had a thought, if based on the internal name, the little guy is canonized as Silver Sonic in Japan, we'll actually get an official translation of the name. Otherwise it will probably still be called Mecha Sonic there.

Just saying, the manual for Sonic 2 GG called it, specifically, "The Silver Sonic." I'm not in an area I can photograph that, though I'm sure it exists as a .PDF somewhere.

Going forward, all comments about various artificial Sonics must be presented in thesis form with annotated sources and photographic evidence.

Frankly it's all Sega of Japan's fault for using the name Mecha Sonic for three different creations. :V

I've read the manual for Sonic 2 GG, as I have Sonic Gems. And it solely calls it "The Silver Sonic." I don't care what Sonic Retro says, I'm saying what I saw. Sonic News Network Wikia refers to it as The Silver Sonic. As for filename, fine.
