When a game is so bad it f*cks up the whole videogame industry

Well it wasn't until the Jaguar that Atari actually killed itself with difficult programming and insulting marketing.

This is the most important thing during The Great Video Game Crash of 1983.
Atari is the one who drove The Golden Age of Video Games in '70s - '80s, and because they relased this game, and Atari 2600 Pac Man, Atari has completely disappointed the whole crowd by an uncontrollable mechanism.
...Atari has commited an inevitable critical judgement.

Fun fact: i played this game at a museum on real hardware. I can officialy say as a eye witness that it is as awful as people say. HOW DO YOU EVEN GET OUT OF THE PITS!? I keep falling back into them

Honestly this game is just average and it's actually pretty fun to play once you understand it (although the hardest difficulty is kinda frustrating at times). Also the title screen was cool for its time. If it had more than 5 weeks in development it could have been much better, but the end result is still enjoyable.

@Gaia True. Though the crash only affected America. Europe and Japan managed to do just fine. (Thanks to computers and arcades)

@Dolphman, that was partially to blame for the video game crash. The vitrol towards it was the result of the game itself being hyped up to insane degrees, given how popular the movie was at the time. It's boring and repetitive, which became two qualifiers for a bad game. Right now we are seeing this in EA's Fifa series.

This was so bad it shouldn't even deserve it's own section. Same with the 2600 PAC-MAN port.

It's reputation is just critics taking it way out of proportion, even to this day and age.
The game is mediocre and boring, nothing else. Much worse games than this out there.

Speaking of Atari, these Atari system games should be put into subcategories named after said devices.
