What's even weirder, the preview to the Chaotix special in issue 30s showed Heavy and Bomb in their game designs.
No idea why they changed them with these less recognisable ones once the special released.

These are those odd designs they used before Sonic slapped them into pieces and they got rebuilt into their game designs.
