I am curious too, but a lot of other Pokémon can transform. Ditto and Mew are two, but Pokémon that know Metronome can also transform, like Togepi.

I was really curious what the front facing sprites for shiny transformed Ditto look like, but I'm noticing nobody's posted those like, anywhere lol

@B. Rodip No, it's to AVOID the Nintendo Ninjas.

@B. Rodip
apparently the site doesn't accept sprite rips from nintendo leaks anymore due to legal reasons, as stated below

Why was beta stuff removed? Nintendo ninjas?

If you TRULY must look back on the Pokemon Gold and Silver 1997 Spaceworld Prototype Page, I suggest looking on the Wayback Machine. It's not hard to find an archive of it if you look hard enough.

@leeseongjae620
Unfortunately is not here anymore.
Because Petie decided to remove it since this site don't accept any Nintendo leaks sprites anymore.

It has now been two years since the Pokémon Gold and Silver Spaceworld 1997 Demo surfaced online. A lot has happened since then.

We've had those for quite a while, they were only recently split into a separate game for reasons.

Also, May 26th marked one year that the Spaceworld 1997 Demo was released online.

@Nitwitsworld @Doc von Schmeltwick Or maybe I was questioning what those things were specifically that were mentioned in ZetTheLegendaryHero's comment, and got the appropriate answer from Deathbringer, gee. Who would've thought?

THIS!
Its the "Old City" map that tells me this rom is not some big ass hoax and tells me I'm not crazy. Back when Pokemania was in full swing, I think it was EGM that showed some screenshots of what I later learned was the 97 Demo of Gold and Silver. The screenshot that stood out the most was Gold standing to the left of the largest tower in the city. It stood out because when I finally got the game, that scene was nowhere to be found. That was the first time I had ever seen something in a magazine and not seen it in the final game.
It blows my mind that we can now run around in the Old City at will. Good times!

Game cartridge and circuit board inside.

Sorry this sounds weird but..

What is an "cart" or "board"?

...In this case?

@Superjustinbros the story I heard is that it belonged to a collector. He or she apparently died, and his or her family took his or her collection to a second hand shop. The shop owner realized what he had, and got the ROM dumbed. The theory is that the cart was marked to be destroyed and the collector either stole or saved it. The collector apparently knew what he had, but wanted to keep it for himself or herself.

By the way, @SpritZ I won't give a link for legal reasons, but I will say there are several links on The Cutting Room Floor's page on the demo. That should be enough information for you to find it.

They probably just managed to get a hold of the original cart/board used during the event and kept it safe for years before dumping it. That's typically what happens to prototypes and demo cartridges.
