@rty88: Funnily enough, no, because the sprites were actually updated before being implented, so those ones still ended up being unused after all.

this made me realize that i’ve been looking at these things the wrong way, because i used to think they had a little face on the front (the two turbines being the eyes)

@Random Talking Bush Actually, the pink and green ones are used. They're used in team races and are team-colored Lucky Bumpers (the normally blue colored Bumpers)

@rty88: Yeah, only the red, black (brightened to gray in-game) and blue Bumpers are used in-game. The regular-sized gold one isn't used due to the larger Gold Bumper taking its place, and the other three (orange, purple and green) are technically the three from the original F-Zero (their palettes are fairly different), all of those are unused.

@rty88: All of the vehicles are like that, not just the Bumper (most noticeably with the Golden Fox's default colour) -- the brightness for everything is adjusted in-game to give them their proper appearance.

And then... Tragedy strikes. Three bomb bumpers spawn within your vicinity.

@Qw2: Or a bumper knocks you out of the stage when both you and the bumper were sent flying (this did happen to me today, in fact). In any case, I grew a certain hate towards them. ^^
