I feel like the gray eyes are a thing from development that the devs forgot to change before release, as Metal has gray eyes in CD's concept art and to a lesser extent the ending cutscene.

The mandela effect kicked in when we all realized that Metal Sonic's sprites are edits of Sonic's.

It's not the Mandela effect, it's the "saw the box art and the creepypastas" effect.

@YGBJM Since there's only like 2 head designs copying and pasting coulda shortened that significantly.

@The Observer I looked at prototypes and development history for Sonic CD to check if he did have red eyes in the game, IDK why the cover art and later games made his eye color red though.

And by manually, meant taking the pencil tool and going over the grey areas, changing color when necessary to make things look nicer and not so lazily done.

Did you try the cover artwork for the game, and Sonic Heroes/Generations?

Also, why 30 minutes to manually recolor? It's probably no more than two.

After looking back on pretty much any bit of documentation I could find on Sonic CD, none of what I could find brought up a version with red eyes Spoiler:looks we had a case of the Mandela effect

I edited this sheet to have red eyes to save you the 30 minutes of having to manually go and change the eye color:

I had to admit, it's better than the previous version; especially with the instruction of how to animate said sprites and put them together.

@Observer He's responding to the previous comments that claim that a "prototype" colored his eyes red.

@Tailikku - Hm? The only 'prototype' on the sheet is the palette that comes from the 510 prototype, as it only appears underwater, and in Stardust Speedway with a shifting overlay. As for the previous version of the sheet being an edited version, I know not, but wanted to get things underway to have something a bit more functional.

by prototype version, you mean the fact that the previous version of this sheet was actually an edited version?

the prototype pallete is the correct one as seen in future games and the art

This needs to be updated with the Prototype palette.

Wasn't there a prototype version with Metal having red eyes?
