The air bubble sprite is glitched out, and did Sonic's arms turn into ashes and blow away?

@Terra King The chances of the Tokyo Toy Show prototype ever getting found are extremely slim. Yuji Naka when he was producer of Sonic Team wanted to include it for Sonic Mega Collection but couldn't be found. This was back in 2001/2002 when there was a higher chance finding a cartridge or a ROM board somewhere.

It took drx years and a lot of luck just to find the Sonic 1 prototype. Sonic 3 was a fluke. Both of them were previewed by the press for magazines (both prototypes had origins in the UK) but this prototype was shown off in Japan which makes it different. When it comes to archiving stuff, Sega among other gaming companies were pretty bad of doing this. Made worse for the fact in Japan, archives of anything are hit or miss (some anime have missing episodes, missing audio or using a master that is in poor shape, the latter being an issue even with digital anime in the 2000s). We are very lucky that the source code for Sonic 1 still exists among some prototype graphics (due to the mobile ports of the mid-2000s) as most source code for games are gone even though Sega wouldn't use it and just use emulation or the Retro Engine ports since it is easier. It wouldn't be in Origins, drx won't find it, it is most likely gone for good and is lost media. (Don't mean what people call lost media where it is usually just very hard to find or in an archive somewhere, it is true lost media).

Don't mind me wrong, I would like to see the proto too but sometimes you have to accept the harshness of reality.

Man. We gotta get that Tokyo Toy Show prototype one day. drx and SEGA, our hopes and prayers, the ROM. Can you just imagine the day we get it? What if on Sonic's 31st birthday when Origins comes out that drx suddenly releases it? Or it's an unlockable in Origins? Time will tell...

hm, i wonder why they chose this shape for the head in the proto sprites?
they could've possibly just been bad at interpreting the art and turning it into spritework...?
well, all of sonic 1 looks like they couldn't choose between mohawk and spikes, so it could've been a last minute design change? well, no, it can't be, because of those spinny labyrinth zone sprites
weird
