I just checked both S3 and S3&K, Sonic's path and Knuckles' path, they are only in Hydrocity Zone, thus there's no need to add them here, but that's not going to stop me from updating the Prototype version if it is actually in the water-specific stages. Also, what the heck is going on in the second half of the comment? Marble Garden Zone has no water, yes, but it doesn't come near close to starting anything for Sonic going to Lava Reef Zone.

Those water surface sprites also appear throughout the game, as many of the lower routes in the stages from Angel Island to Launch Base is submerged in water. The only time I think of an area that's not partially underwater is Marble Garden Zone, in which Sonic begins to make his ascent to Lava Reef Zone in Sonic & Knuckles.

Over here and over here. I looked through various areas of the stages and could only find them in Hydrocity Zone. Since the stage objects sheets need to go through the mass comb-over, I'll check the stages again to make sure there was no blinding.

[in cuphead voice] Hey, where did the water surface sprites go!?

They're much more common throughout Sonic CD in the classic games. They're Universal there. In Sonic 2, they show up in Emerald Hill Zone and Hill Top Zone only - a very loose threshold for their inclusion on the sheet there. In Sonic 3, they only show up in Marble Garden Zone. In Sonic & Knuckles, they only show up in Mushroom Hill Zone.

I'm not shifting on my position to exclude them from this sheet. But if you're really that salty about not having access to them, try looking here until I get the Marble Garden Zone Objects sorted out.

Diagonal springs are a themeless, reoccurring gimmick throughout the classic sonic games. They're just an extension of the spring and would fit here fine.

Complicates what, exactly? Diagonal springs aren't an universal object.

But it's pointless and just serves to complicate things. The old sheet was perfectly fine. There's no point in fixing something that isn't broken.

It says it right on the sheet where the diagonal springs are. Three guesses on one of the stages I haven't gotten to ripping objects from.

But if helps you, I have them aside separately ready for the eventual MGZ Object sheet. Wait.

Why was the old sheet replaced, this doesn't even have the diagonal springs. How was this approved?

Who's "we"? And could you be more specific?

"The longer spikes are unused"
What longer spikes?

@GameJosh: Nope! That was something else entirely - I've just looked over the sprites I'm putting together for a Sonic sheet and the surfboard is longer (and perhaps wider) than the snowboard.

@The Observer It was originally intended for Sonic to surf onto Angel Island with it, as shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbr8OlheBb4

I think that would be more relevant to the Level-specific objects sheet, since the snowboard only shows up in Ice Cap.

Doesn't the snowboard have sprites that are without Sonic? I know most of them just removed Sonic, but sprites like where the board goes vertical are original.

Where’s Sonics snowboard?

Yeah, nothing wrong with having a couple of extra sprites on a sheet, as long as they're labelled as such. :P

@Svyat The edits are just a neat bonus that could potentially be useful. They don't really detract from the sprite sheet in any way.

I don't think edits should belong to OG game sheet.

...I liked them. The names, I mean. ._.

Main gripe about Fleetway's comic is that the artstyle for original characters didn't look Sonic-y at all. In fact, they typically were just plain ugly. Not helping was the fact that a very large amount of characters never reappeared at all, despite having reuse potential. And the fact that due to the non-collaborating artists, characters of the same species could look bafflingly different. At least the Archie comics handwaved how Arlo looks nothing like Mighty by saying they're a Western and Eastern Armadillo, respectively.

"Chirps" was only in non-game books and Fleetway comic in the 90s. In fact a lot of the names they gave the animals in those were very stupid.
Many don't like Fleetway's incarnation because they made Sonic an asshole.

Because Japanese. The American name used to be "Chirps."
